Fabric of A ManStarring: Clifton Powell, Darrin Henson, Buddy Lewis, Dominique Majors, Tammy Townsend Director: David E. Talbert Plot
Outline:
The Fabric of a Man is a jewel in the Talbert crown of
7 romantic musical stage
plays. It’s the story of Dominique Majors (Tammy Townsend), an up-and-coming
fashion designer in love with Blair Godfrey (Clifton Powell), a self-centered
stockbroker who wishes she'd
focus less on her career and more on him. One night Dominique stumbles into an
old-school dry cleaner, where she meets Joshua King (Darren DeWitt Henson), a
good-looking young tailor who takes interest in more than just her dry cleaning.
Torn between the comfort of finance and the potential of new romance, Dominique
is forced to decide which fabric of which man best suits her. David E.
Talbert. THE FABRIC OF A MAN emerged as Talbert's most
critically acclaimed hit. The play was nominated for 13 NAACP Awards and played
to great audience approval during its initial run in Los Angeles. This release
captures a live performance of the play, with all the immediacy that comes with
the theatrical experience. Dominique and Blair are a young couple on their way
up the ladder of wealth and social status. But when Dominique meets Joshua, a
handsome working man, she falls for him, and must make a choice between the
comfort and money represented by Blair, and the romantic ideal Joshua could be.
THE FABRIC OF A MAN is a romance that combines good natured comedy and life
affirming drama with Gospel music written by award-winning composer Brent Jones
